On behalf of AmChams in Europe—the umbrella organization representing 50 American Chambers of Commerce across 48 countries in Europe and Eurasia, and over 17,000 U.S. and European companies—we extend our sincere appreciation for your continued dedication to strengthening transatlantic cooperation.
As longstanding allies, partners, and advocates of a future-focused, strong, and resilient EU-U.S. relationship, we are pleased to share key insights from our recent 2025 AmChams in Europe U.S. Delegation, which convened 47 representatives from 30 AmCham organizations for high-level engagements in Washington, D.C., and Atlanta, Georgia.
One message rang clear throughout our discussions with U.S. stakeholders—including the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and leading global enterprises. The transatlantic partnership remains a cornerstone of global economic stability, peace, and innovation.
In today’s dynamic geopolitical and economic environment, a different approach is essential—one that prioritizes determination, concrete proposals, and constructive engagement. We welcome the EU Commission’s continued commitment to mutual respect and active diplomacy, which is vital in this context.
The transatlantic relationship is a strategic partnership—one that demands clarity, compromise, and proactive leadership. Dialogue remains important, but it must be matched with action. Thank you for pursuing practical solutions that reflect the depth and significance of the transatlantic alliance.
The numbers speak volumes:
- A $9.5 trillion combined transatlantic economy
- Over $7.5 trillion in annual commercial sales
- One-third of global GDP is generated together
- Europe contributes 64% of global investment into the U.S., while 56% of U.S. investment returns to Europe
- 16 million jobs supported directly by transatlantic investment
- American companies earn more than half of their global revenues in Europe
Across our membership—from multinational corporations to agile SMEs—business leaders consistently emphasize the need for:
- Transparent and harmonized regulation
- Predictable and fair access to markets
- Policy alignment in digitalization, sustainability, trade, and innovation
AmChams in Europe are deeply rooted in national economies and engage daily with both policymakers and business communities. This gives us a unique vantage point—translating business priorities into strategic policy dialogue grounded in trust, shared democratic values, and long-term vision.
At AmChams in Europe, we recognize the coming weeks as important for advancing a stable and forward-looking transatlantic trade and investment framework. The EU and U.S. should focus on addressing immediate concerns while laying the groundwork for long-term cooperation. We support constructive progress in key areas—including deeper cooperation on goods purchases, joint action against unfair trade practices and industrial overcapacity, and the removal of regulatory barriers. At the same time, we remain firmly opposed to broad-based tariffs that would harm businesses and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic.
We urge the European Commission, just as we urged our U.S. counterparts and decision-makers, to invest in this essential partnership—not only to address today’s trade frictions, but to build a forward-looking framework for economic resilience and global competitiveness.
Commissioner Šefčovič, we thank you for your leadership and openness to engagement. We stand ready to support your work and to contribute actively to a transatlantic future that is ambitious, coordinated, and enduring.
On behalf of AmChams in Europe, with sincere respect and commitment!
