Special Event - Open House at The American International School of Vilnius

2010 05 21

On May 19th, 2010 AmCham invited its members and friends to the special event - Open House at The American International School of Vilnius (AISV).

During this event, The American International School of Vilnius provided an overview of the educational programs that AISV is offering to host country nationals and the foreigners. The participants had an opportunity to visit classrooms of the School, observe the daily class work in all grade levels, tour the AISV premises, meet AISV's faculty members and listen to the interesting presentation about School's achievements and goals, delivered by Mr. Robert Hinman, Director of AISV.

The Open House was closed with the networking reception.

A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF AISV
Founded in 1993, the AISV is Lithuania's first international school in English enrolling children from 2 years of age through grade 12. AISV provides excellent educational opportunities not only for foreign students residing in Lithuania, but also for Lithuanian students. The School has about 200 students from more than 20 different countries and AISV's enrollment numbers grow every year. AISV is the only international school in the Baltic States having dual international accreditation (gained in 2009) by two premier international and U.S. school accrediting associations - the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle States Association (MSA). The core teaching staff at AISV is composed of certified, professional and devoted teachers. Elementary classroom teachers as well as the upper school core subject teachers are mainly overseas hired native English speakers.
The high school program at AISV offers a college preparatory curriculum. In addition to core subjects, students of grades 11 and 12 at AISV are offered the Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The AP program challenges students with course work that in many cases is credited toward university completion. Students also receive preparation with the SAT - worldwide recognized college admission tests. AISV also offers other educational programs such as Saturday English school and a summer camp. We sincerely thank The American International School of Vilnius and its community for their initiative, help and cooperation in organizing this event!
